I present to you my very first SLAM DUNK artwork ^_^! I first started liking Slam Dunk a while ago, when I first discovered pictures of it online. The artwork was just fantastic! That prompted me to buy the artbook, entirely by the ingenious Inoue Takehiko, not long after. But I had no way of getting a hold of the series back then, so I never got around to seeing what it was about... (outside of basketball, of course, XD). But just recently, I managed to find the fansubs of the series, and it's awesome! ^_^. It's a hilarious anime, that cannot be anymore addictive, XD. So here's my very first commemoration to that It is based off the first few episodes of the series... (even though i'm clear in the middle of it now, XD).

I decided to be somewhat decently creative in this artwork, and did it entirely by pencil crayon ^_^;; Usually I won't do anything only by pencil crayon unless I'm shooting for that effect, like with Derwents. Though most of this IS with Derwents, I also used prismacolors, just for the heck of it, XD.

Rukawa and Sakuragi, the two guys, were done entirely in prismacolors ^_^. Yeah, I'm befriending those things more and more.. even though I swore I never would, XD. I am aware that they're from the same team and seem to be working against each other, XD. But if you've seen the series, then it would be understandable, ^_^; Go Sakuragi, king of rebounds!

The background, with Haruko, the court, etc, are done in Derwents. .

Favorite Aspects
Sakuragi! The way he is realistically coloured, yet on a bold black background, reminds me a lot of Takehiko-san's work from the artbook. Just a lot less... good, XD.

Least Favorite Aspects
Haruko! ><;; She looks just fine in the hard copy, but once it was scanned I found about 3 or 4 flaws right off. I really need to practise my life-drawing *sigh*. Also, there's too many warm colours in this shot IMO. I know it helps to emphasize Haruko's eyes, but still... it achieves way too much unity and too little contrast, than there could have been.

These scenes were taken from my favourite ending (so far), Anata Dake Mitsumeteru, which translates to the title I have given this artwork. It's symbolic because well... Haruko has a huge crush on Rukawa (black hair)... but Sakuragi (red hair) has a huge crush on her... and though the song and ending is leaning towards Rukawa's favour, I wanted this artwork to be a lot less suggestive than that. Because she's not looking at either one of them in particular, I was hoping to give the impression that maybe, with time, she's grown to like either / or ^_^.

Well, you can bet this isn't the last of my Slam Dunk artworks ^_^ That show is only too cool! And the style is awesome. Hope you like it .
