Yay! It's finally finished ^__^. I first saw this picture as a Fushigi Yuugi poster that my friend had, and I fell in love with it! I instantly wanted to try reproducing it, and so borrowing her artbook, I gave it a go ^^. I've also been getting more into the FY romance lately between Tamahome and Miaka. When I first watched the series, I wasn't so much into their sugar-fied gushiness (it was more like a twitch-fest o_o; How anyone could love the ditzy and useless Miaka was beyond me...), but now my views have changed a bit (yuh-huh, Kali's morphed into a sappy gush herself what wiht Tenshi and all...^_~) and I'm more repsectful of their romantic devotion. Plus the Miaka dubber gets really emotional and made me cry, lol. So here's my tribute to good dubbing and heart-warming romance! ^_^.

Artistically, this piece was brutal from the start. Drawing it out only took about one night, but getting the eyes perfect was definitely the hardest task. Everyone who's any anime fan knows that Watase Yuu murders everyone else when it comes to eye-styles.. so yeesh... that took me forever to try and get down perfectly. I still don't think it's perfect to her style, but it's satisfactory, and that's where my efforts end, lol.

Painting with watercolors was a bit of a groaner too -- I HATE WATERCOLORS!! -_-;; Thankfully I only had to use them for the skin and hair mainly, parts of the hair being done in marker. The background was done with acrylics -- my favorite paint medium -- and the most time-consuming part was developing the sky gradient and the white flower patterns.

Favorite Aspects
Seriously, the moon, X3. I was talking to Jay during the time I was absent-mindedly painting it, and lo and behold, the gigantic planetary orb actually came out half decent, XD. Moons are always strangely fun to paint .

Least Favorite Aspects
The stupid white flower patterns all around the edges! Those took FOREVER -_-; And it cluttered up the piece a lot, so I couldn't put as much detail into the sky as I wanted to without the picture overloading, XD.

Well, so that does it for artwork number 2 in my Anime North collection. I think I'm getting tired of making reproductions though and am hoping to do some original poses in new fanart to come. I hope you enjoyed this artwork and thanks for viewing! ^_^
