By the time I've written this comment, it's already been quite a few months since I've painted this, but regardless, I can still remember how agonizingly LONG it took! This is my most recent painting, and the most intricate I've done so far. I had just finished watching the Fushigi Yuugi series not long before, and I decided for this to be my main tribute. I really liked the whole aspect of the Suzaku seishi, so that's what I really wanted this painting to focus on, while also incorporating some scenic elements for me to experiment with.
The characters probably took the longest to do, second only to the background. They were drawn based off of manga pictures and colours, to keep their hair colours more natural. The outfit I put them in is a random mixture of what I've seen based off of Watase Yuu's manga pictures. Although the Seiryu Seven are the ones who normally wear blue, and the Suzaku Seishi *should* be wearing red, I decided to change the colours because the red would fade into the background too easily. So those seven cuties are still Suzaku-patriots, don't worry ! I'm not too sure why Tamahome and Hotohori came out looking like such grump-fumps, I guess it's because Miaka isn't around, HA! XD (that was intentional, *GRIN* I don't really like her, X3)
The background itself took quite a while, but was really fun! I wanted to really give it that China-esque theme. The flowers at the front were kinda rushed, but by then I was practically sick of this art, X3 . Overall, I'm quite happy with it. But I can't say I like my scanning job, it got all blurry round the middle, XD. Hope you liked it and thanks for viewing!
I think that this is absolutly incredible! I don't know anyone else who could do this, and I can only imagen how much hard work went into this. Everything about was amazing and the backround was something else completly! I think this is fabulous, so thank you for posting. This is, by far, the best painting I have seen in years!
Thanks for the kind words. It means a lot to me! I really do miss making art like this. I remember when I went to sell my art years ago, this one stayed on the wall on my display for sometime, and I was relieved thinking that I could keep it. But I ended up selling it for like 20 bucks or something, should have kept it instead T_T.
